Can I chuck my tree yet?

I know its the 30th of December but I honestly would rather have my tree no longer in the livingroom anymore. It served its purpose dutifully, but I dunno Im kinda over it. No offence tree, you're lovely.

So Christmas was pretty good, the hubby loved what I got him, and since I have a pretty terrible track record at Christmas I tried extra hard this year to shed that image. The surprise piece de resistance was the massive replica of the Starship Enterprise ( the one from the next generation). Saying hes a bit of a trekkie is only a mild understatement... and I like TNG but dont have much patience for the rest of it, and I got him this pretty dope Tiffany's ring designed by Frank Gehry.. its pretty cool.

They just announced the Team Canada Roster for the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. I am so friggin excited!! The only thing that could make me more excited is getting to see the games live... but since that won't likely be happening, I'll be glued to the TV for the last 2 weeks of February(taking a short break to turn 30). I think we have got to be Gold medal favorites... despite the shitty finish in 2006, and despite the fact we've only won 1 gold medal in men's ice hockey in nearly 60 years(which still boggles my mind).. So look out Russians! Look out Americans! Look out Swedes! Look out Finns! (I dont think the Czechs or Slovaks have a remote shot at gold...). Oh and the World Juniors! shit. I wish they split the teams up a bit differently...cuz Canada Vs. Latvia, well its not really much of a match up. We won the game 16-0 and if you don't normally follow hockey or know anything about it... thats one of the most ridiculous scores I have ever seen...(but the Women's teams have demolished teams by 20+ goals routinely). I am a huge hockey fan, live and breathe every aspect of the game, and I totally believe the World Juniors is the most exciting hockey to watch. Its fast, we routinely win the championship, and its packed full of 6'0+, 190+lb, cute guys! Nazem Kadri , Jordan Eberle http://www.tsn.ca/world_jrs/feature/?id=12350 and theres others.. and how come the cutest ones are also the most talented(Taylor Hall notable exception)?

New Years is coming up!! Going to dinner with some friends at a restaurant across from my house. Hubby has to work so we decided to go to dinner where he works, then come back to mine and keep the party going before I head to my favorite afterhours to dance until well... until I cant anymore.

Later y'all

Joy to the Ho! etc etc

Well its Christmas Eve, which has completely surprised me.. time flies i guess. All the shopping is done, all the gifts are wrapped... even the ones for the cats... I have two absolutely awesome cats so they deserve a little Holiday recognition.

I'm a waiter and my boss had a little Holiday party at the restaurant last night for his friends and our regular customers which worked out pretty fantastically from a financial perspective for me... I was there until like 3am but made some good cash which comes in mighty handy this time of year.

So the hubby and I are heading over to a friend's place for some drinks and holiday shenanigans or whatever. He made this absolutely amazing gingerbread cheesecake for christmas dinner last year so I asked him to make it again this year and bring it to our friend's place tonight. I cant bake to save my life... I think its because I dont tend to like following instructions. I love to cook however! Its fun to just see what you can come up with by using random things around the house and the results have usually worked out pretty well...i think.

The World Junior Hockey championship starts in 2 days! Im so excited. As far as Im concerned its the fastest, most entertaining hockey you are going to see. Ive been pretty much glued to it every Christmas since I was 14..whch i guess makes it my longest personal Christmas tradition. I'll be huddled infront of the tv watching Canada kick some ass for a few days...a preview for the Olympics where we better win. If we have a repeat of Torino I might have to move. I think we finished in like 7th place that year, which is not ok. Oh! speaking of the Olympics... my friend's niece just made the women's Olympic Hockey team... so if you werent cheering for them before.. start now!

Ok time to get to the grocery store which i hope is still open to get some stuff for Christmas dinner, which i think is going to be just the 2 of us.... Lobster? hmmmmmm...

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!

So i don't really read blogs. Like i dont follow them or pay attention to any in particular, but i realized today that Im pretty sure im missing out big style. So while I was in the middle of reading about Mikey, this closeted gay hockey player from Minneapolis, it struck me that I should just start my own.... and maybe that'll get me off my ass and motivated to read other blogs and i dunno just be a little bit more productive. oh my god! We have these tiny little black flies. and i dont know where they are coming from!! my hubby came home with a palm tree a while back and i think they must have been living in it or something but theres loads of the little bastards. I feel like Hunter when hes being swarmed by the millions of bats on his way to Vegas, I honestly kill atleast 4 every single morning...errr afternoon, while watching sportscentre.

Ugh. This has likely been one of the most frustrating 4 months of my life. Hockey is basically my favorite thing in life. Ok its a tie between hockey and good solid house music. Which is a strange combination Im learning... Anyhoot, so hockey, I hurt my wrist years ago at the 2006 World OutGames in Montreal during a game and ever since then its sorta come and gone.. and then this summer while I was at the gym in like June(trying to get muscles for pride hehe) I was apparently lifting too much and something in my wrist completely snapped. I kept playing hockey all the time but Im a centre.... an faceoffs werent really going so well, and I had no strength in my shot... plus my team is supposedly going to the GayGames this summer in Cologne Germany, and I want to be 100% by then..... so Ive had to stop playing to rest it and hope it got better. Well it hasnt. I havent played since September and its driving me INSANE. Everyday watching highlights on tv, I miss it so much. Ive gone for an MRI well for both my knee and my wrist cuz I also have lingering effects from 2 partially torn knee ligaments (tonnes of fun).. I get my results on Jan 12th.. so hopefully its something that can be fixed and if it cant then im just going to go back and play anyway cuz Ive only played like 3 games this year :(

Ok well I have to go get my xmas cards in the mail and finish up the Christmas shopping. which is pretty much done apart from the hubby. Typically i am far from a big fan of the Holiday Season. Actually i find it pretty stressfull. All the frantic hours in a mall, all the money you spend... bla and people are always putting on some ridiculous front of smiling through the pain.... but for some reason... and i really dont know why, Ive really enjoyed the build up for Christmas. Maybe its because im broke as a joke(which really should not make me happy), or maybe its because I know im getting my man exactly what he wants and hes going to be the happiest guy on the planet Christmas morning.. whatever it is I hope its like this next year too cuz i really hate being a stick in the mud.

later gayters.
